Not your typical HVAC system

Trailing suction hopper dredgers, cutter suction dredgers and backhoe dredgers are the workhorses of the commercial fleet. Imagine a 100 m. cutter suction dredger with a capacity exceeding 30.000 kW, laying in the burning sun in the Gulf of Oman. It’s drill head pounding through layer after layer of rock and debris on a depth of 40 m. Can you imagine the amount of heat that will be generated under these extreme conditions? Clearly, this requires a little more than just a conventional HVAC system.

Dredgers are generally very complex vessels and require specialist knowledge of the vessel, its purpose and its equipment. A lot of vibrations occur, so rigid building of the system, units and equipment is a necessity.
