HVAC&R | Cruise ships
Tourism is growing continuously and cruise vessel operators are fighting to have the best ships providing the best customer experience. Passenger comfort is the number one priority in the rapidly growing cruise industry and HVAC systems have become one of the key systems for customer satisfaction. Our team of experienced engineers can design HVAC systems with ultra-low noise levels for ships operating in the most extreme climates in the world. Satisfy your most demanding customers.
Saving energy, while maintaining the highest level of comfort
An estimated 30% of the total energy consumption of a cruise ship comes from HVAC for galley ventilation, accommodation and public spaces. This has a major impact on profitability and environmental issues. We understand that return on investment is the number one priority in choosing the HVAC supplier for a luxury cruise ship, and that’s why our complete HVAC philosophy is centered around energy-efficiency. Our innovative products and systems, together with our advanced automation technology result in significant efficiency gains. Saving energy, while maintaining the highest level of comfort. With our expertise in supplying advanced, custom-built HVAC systems, we specialize in smaller cruise ships (< 200 m.) with a higher level of luxury.
Safety first
Passenger ships in operation today are subject to a vast array of regulations and standards – such as IMO/SOLAS, SRtP, Polar Code and Class regulations – covering every aspect of ship construction and operation. Essential system redundancy, safe areas and fire safety measures distinguishes HVAC technology for cruise ships from HVAC technology for other vessels.
SRtP
Passenger ships having a length of 120m or more – or having 3 or more Main Vertical Zones – are subject to Safe Return to Port regulations. The systems required to be available to support habitability – such as air conditioning and ventilation – must be arranged to be simultaneously available in the assigned Main Fires Zones (MFZ) should an incident occur in any other compartment. For the HVAC system, this requires a different design approach. For example, instead of one central chiller, we will design a system with two smaller chillers, so one can always keep running.
