HVAC | MY VanTom

MY VanTom is a new addition to the successful Heesen 5000 Aluminium class. VanTom started as Project Alba and was bought by the owners in 2015, six months in to the construction. The semi-custom concept enabled the owners to have a yacht that they can customize, while benefiting from shorter construction times and a proven design and technology.

The owners worked closely with the designers and the shipyard’s engineers to create an interior design that reflects their taste and the lifestyle of their family: a contemporary and unique aesthetic of understated elegance where they can enjoy peace and relaxation and feel like home. The interior layout is traditional with the master suite on the main deck forward and five guest suites on the lower deck, for a total of 12 passengers in 6 cabins. Her exterior  lines differentiate her from her five sister ships.

Cruising in comfort

To ensure the owners and their guests can enjoy their trips in the highest level of comfort, Heinen & Hopman was selected to supply the complete HVAC system. The scope consisted of the delivery, engineering, installation and commissioning of the air conditioning, mechanical ventilation, fresh air system, sanitary treatment system, grey/black water system, hot/cold water supply and the wheelhouse demisting system.

Air conditioning system

A seawater-cooled, custom-built chiller provides 100% of the required cooling capacity. The air conditioning system was based on the following design conditions:

Outside-Inside Summer

Outside: 35°C/90% RH or 40°C/65% RH
Inside: 23°C/50% RH

Outside-Inside Winter

Outside: 0°C
Inside: 20°C
