The Indonesian Navy ordered four SIGMA class corvettes at Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding (DSNS) in the Netherlands. The vessels, called KRI Diponegoro, KRI Sultan Hasanuddin, KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda and KRI Frans Kaisiepo, are part of the largest naval force in South East Asia. The corvettes were built between 2006 and 2009.
The primary missions and tasks of the SIGMA 9113 Corvettes include naval patrol of Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ), deterrence, search and rescue and anti-submarine warfare (ASW).
Climate Control Equipment
The corvettes feature accommodation for 80 persons. Heinen & Hopman supplied the complete mechanical ventilation, air conditioning (accommodation areas and wheelhouse) and refrigeration system (provision cooling and cooling of combat systems, serving electronic equipment rooms, communication room, operation room and wheelhouse). The air required for combustion and cooling of the engines is supplied by fresh air supply fans, which have the capacity to keep the engine room temperature at maximum 48˚C in summer conditions during normal operation.
